Kings of Leon
 To Headline Slane

Kings of Leon are to headline this year's Slane Castle music event, orgnaisers revealed on Tuesday.

The incredible booking of arguably one of the world's biggest bands coincides with the 30th Anniversary of the Dublin one-day festival.

The line-up
also includes resurgent English indie band Elbow, legendary Irish rock band Thin Lizzy, British new wave band White Lies, Nashville rockers
Mona and Georgia garage band The Whigs.

With the concert scheduled to take place on Saturday May 28, the festival's organisers said were "delighted" to announce the world-class bands. They also announced a number of operational changes to begin at this year's site, which will contribute to an "improved concert experience".

King's of Leon's fifth studio album, Come Around Sundown, sold over 6 million copies worldwide as well as breaking the record for biggest first week digital album sales with over 49,000 album downloads.

Meanwhile, support act and Mercury Music Prize winners Elbow's new album Build a Rocket Boys was recently released to critical acclaim taking the number 2 position in the charts.

Organisers also said that Thin Lizzy's
return to Slane will mean more to Thin Lizzy than anyone else.

A spokesman said: "It was Thin Lizzy who began the road to where Slane is today back in 1981. Many years have gone by since Phil Lynott passed, but the amazing body of work that is Thin Lizzy still retains all of its vibrancy and influence. A new line-up has formed to take Lizzy’s music to a whole new generation of music."

A full history of Slane Castle concerts and operational changes at this years site are now online and available here.
