Crescent Arts Centre Celebrates Birthday

Local rock band a Northern Light is to help ring in the celebrations of the newly refurbished Crescent Arts Centre's 1st Birthday on April 15.

The event will feature a competition to win two tickets and two copies of A Northern Light's latest release, The Right Thing To Do, and party bags will be available on the door with a selection of hidden treats inside, forty of which will include a free signed print of A Northern Light, amongst many other little items.

The event, which is 'Bring Your Own', starts at 8pm with DJ Tearsmile. There will also be an exhibition of local street art as well as face painting by Claire McKervey.

The musical entertainment includes the help of comedy rock band Chocolate Love Factory, Chris Campbell and Paper Boats.

The event cost £5 in on the door and there's no corkage charge.

Crescent Arts Centre Restoration Complete
The newly refurbished Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast has been re-opened, following an 18-month restoration project. The £7.2m scheme involved a refurbishment and restoration, which has preserved the exterior façade of the Grade II listed building. The refurbished centre includes an extension that increases the accommodation by approximately 900m2.

April Opening For Revamped Arts Centre
Belfast's refurbished Crescent Arts Centre will opens its doors to the public in April, it has been confirmed. The £7.2m restoration project at the listed Victorian complex began in September 2008. Works undertaken at the arts centre include the creation of new state-of-the-art dance studios, performance spaces and photography studios.

Latest City Of Culture News Released
The newest details of the L’Derry City of Culture events programme have been revealed by the Arts Council in Northern Ireland. The news follows an investment of £1m in 18 new arts projects. The funding will support local arts organisations in new artistic ventures, including theatre productions, live music, dance performances and the visual arts.

Camera scheme launched to tackle road safety
In a month that has seen the deaths of 18 people on Northern Ireland's roads, the PSNI has announced a new safety camera scheme designed to reduce speed and increase safety. According to the PSNI, speed is the biggest cause of all deaths and serious injuries in Northern Ireland, with over 29% of fatalities due to excess speed.
