Sisk Scoops National Considerate Constructors Award

Sisk's work on the new Bombardier CSeries aircraft facility building has been rewarded with a silver national site award in the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

The 2011 Considerate Constructors Scheme awards are presented to the highest scoring 7.5 pc of sites, selected from over 8,500 eligible sites completed in 2010.

The Belfast team's work on the facility building, which should start production of the wing component later this year, was judged a winner for its exceptional achievements in managing the site environment and safety.

Construction on the Harbour Estate site was also highly commended for standards reached in areas such as cleanliness, accountability, responsibility and neighbourliness.

Sisk's Health and Safety Officer Greg Hamill said: "On a site such as Bombardier it’s essential to remember that we are working alongside other employers and residents, in order to complete the project to our client’s standards, while maintaining good local relationships at all times."

Bombardier's 600,000 sq ft (55,742 m2) factory is being built in two phases and will incorporate an existing production building. Sisk is currently working on phase II of the building.
