Stun gun used on 12-year-old boy during robbery

A couple and their four children have been held at gunpoint at their mobile home in Larne.

Two masked men forced entry into the family’s home on the Ballytober Road at approximately 8.30am on Tuesday October 9 and held the family at gunpoint while the men demanded money.

It is understood that a stun gun was used during the attack on the father and his eldest 12-year-old son. The father was also pistol whipped before the robbers escaped with a sum of money.

The couple’s other children aged 2, 9,and 11 were uninjured but were treated for shock. Police have appealed for information about the incident, which they have described as “very aggressive”.

Meanwhile two masked youths, one brandishing a meat cleaver, have robbed a pensioner in County Antrim. The 66-year-old man was returning to his car in Wallace Park in Lisburn on Monday October 8 around 7pm when he was set upon by the two masked robbers.

He sustained an injury to his neck and head but did not need hospital treatment. SDLP councillor for the area Patricia Lewlsey has condemned the attack. Speaking on Tuesday Ms Lewlsey said: "This was a vicious attack on an elderly man, carried out by thugs who have no regard for other people or their property. If anyone has any information about this attack they should pass it on to the police to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended. Everyone has the right to live in peace and safety in their own area." Appeal After Masked Men Force Entry Into Home Of Elderly Man
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after five masked me forced entry into the home of an man aged in his 70s, on the Saintfield Road. Police received a report shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday, 17th February that between 10pm and 10.30pm on the same evening, five masked men entered a house in the Saintfield Road area.

Man Escapes Injury After 'Suspected' Gun Jams In North Belfast
A man has escaped injury after a suspected gun jammed during an attempted shooting attack in north Belfast. The incident occurred at Mount Vernon Lane at around 10.20pm on Wednesday. Two masked men forced the victim to the ground and produced a gun. When the attacker attempted to fire the weapon it is believed to have jammed.

Man Attacked With Batons In Ballymoney
A 40-year-old man has been attacked with batons in Ballymoney. Police are describing it as a paramilitary-style attack. The man was beaten with batons at a property in the Alexandra Avenue area just after 8.30pm on Saturday, 28 October. Three masked men are believed to have entered the house and attacked the victim.

Attempted ATM Theft In Co Fermanagh
Police have issued an appeal for information following the attempted theft of an ATM overnight in Co Fermanagh. At around 12:45am a number of masked men attempted to steal an ATM from a premises on the Enniskillen Road in Irvinestown. It is understood that the robbers forced entry into the rear of the premises.

Petrol Bomb Thrown At Police Vehicle In Co Antrim
Two masked men threw a petrol bomb at a police vehicle in Co Antrim. The attack happened in the Castlemara Drive area in Carrickfergus at around 2.20am on Sunday, 29 May. The bomb hit the vehicle, however no damage was caused. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
