McAfee Creates 30 New Jobs In Cork

One of the world's largest security technology companies have today announced the opening of its new state-of-the-art facility in City Gate, Mahon, Cork.

McAfee has had significant operations in Cork since 2004, with its previous Irish headquarters located at EastGate, Little Island.

The move follows the company's September 2009 announcement of the creation of 100 new jobs with its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) inside sales team. Following a successful period of recent recruitment, the McAfee EMEA sales team has now expanded from 180 to 280 employees.

David Quantrell, President of EMEA, McAfee said: "I'm thrilled to be here in Cork today, along with Batt O'Keeffe, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, and our President and Chief Executive Officer, Dave DeWalt. The new office really consolidates our presence here in Cork and I look forward to many years of working with the team here in Ireland. Since we established our presence six years ago, this team has not only been at the heart of much of what the company does in EMEA, but also our Asia Pacific and international markets."

The inside sales organisation was created with the support of the Irish Development Agency (IDA) and will service mid market customers across the region.

"The creation of an additional 100 jobs by McAfee since September 2009 demonstrates Ireland's continued ability to provide a nurturing environment where leading-edge corporations can continue to expand," said Barry O'Leary, IDA Chief Executive Officer. "The Cork operation has gone from strength to strength since its establishment here in 2004 and on behalf of IDA Ireland I look forward to working closely with the company to ensure the continued development of the Irish facility."
