PRS Backs Free Live Gigs In Belfast
A series of free live music showcases for emerging and breakthrough acts has been announced for Northern Ireland.
The event, called Spotlight On, has been organized by the PRS for Music (Performing Rights Society) and will be kicking off later this month in Belfast, before touring a number of different cities. The Belfast event at Auntie Annies on June 22 will showcase three of the city's up and coming bands, Event Horses, Phoenix Fire and Pat Dam Smyth (pictured here).
These showcases follow the successful Almost Famous series that has ran since 2009, including an event in Belfast last year.
PRS for Music's Stuart Fleming said: "We're delighted to be launching these new showcases in Northern Ireland. They will provide a fantastic platform for fans to see some of the best Northern Irish musical talent, starting in Belfast.
"PRS for Music has always done its best to support creators and the Spotlight On series is a great way to highlight this talent to the wider industry."
PRS for Music represents 80,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers in the UK. It is a not-for-profit organisation that ensures artists are paid whenever their music is played, performed or reproduced.
