The Darkness Announce Reunion Tour

Music based on the comedy of camp cliché was never expected to warrant other than temporary success, if any, but The Darkness have decided to flog the horse once again, announcing a reunion tour this year.

The Darkness have revealed their reunion gigs will include Irish dates at The Olympia Theatre, Dublin on Saturday December 3rd this year, and The Ulster Hall in Belfast on December 4.

The band fell apart after bassist Frankie Poulain left in 2005, shortly followed by the departure of perma-jumpsuit-clad vocalist Justin Hawkins in 06.

The split led to the formation of two spin-off bands, with the remainder of The Darkness reforming as Stone Gods and Hawkins putting together the super-camp Hot Leg after rehabilitating from substance abuse. Both bands struggled to make much of an impact, with the former performing slightly better.

The tour will be the original line-up's first since 2005, and consists of one of the largest selection of British & Irish venues the band has performed at on one tour.

The band originally won three Brit Awards, sold over a million albums and headlined Ireland’s Oxegen festival before their split.

After the tour, the band has promised to complete their difficult third album. It'll be interesting to see if we can take much more.
