Tourism Ireland meets to discuss US attacks
Tourism Ireland Ltd, the new all-Ireland tourism body which is responsible for Ireland’s tourism marketing programme overseas from 2002, has revealed that will be assessing the impact on Irish tourism after last week’s US terrorist attacks.
Following a board meeting on Wednesday 19 September, Tourism Ireland said it would monitor the ongoing situation, in its determination to ensure that the tourism industry would come through the current difficulties, which have seen a downturn in the airline and hospitality industries on a global basis.
The board now plan to consult within the industry, including the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and Bord Failte, to further consider the future effects on tourism in Ireland in the aftermath of the US attacks.
A meeting has also been organised for next week with the newly formed all-Ireland Tourism Marketing Partnership, established by Tourism Ireland, and which represents key industry players. (MB)

Both an advance - and a more backward step - in tourism matters were highlighted yesterday as two politicians spoke out on making the most of visitor numbers.
