Latest Belfast Venue 'Gets Brass Pack'

Nine-piece American band Hypnotic Brass Ensemble have been announced as one of the first acts to play Belfast's latest venue, Double Yellow.

More recently found on headline festival stages supporting the likes of Blur or performing with Gorillaz, Hypnotic Brass ensemble will appear in Belfast’s newest and most unusual venue on Friday 5 August.



The band includes eight brothers from the south side of Chicago. Their last appearance in Belfast was at a sold out show at the Custom House Square Marquee during the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. Since then they have toured with Gorillaz - having collaborated on the Plastic Beach album - played main stage at Electric Picnic and headlined the Sea Sessions festival, as well as making a number of appearances on Later with Jools Holland.

Previously they supported Blur at their reunion concerts in 2009.


Local Ska heroes Pocket Billiards will provide support, bringing their massive band and blend of horns, drums and guitars to the mix.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble appear on Friday 5 August at Double Yellow, Belfast with support form Pocket Billiards and DJ Jonny Delaney.

Bus windscreen shattered in attack in east Belfast
Detectives at Strandtown are appealing for information after a bus was attacked off the Woodstock Road in east Belfast around teatime on Tuesday. Shortly after 6pm the bus, which was travelling along Woodstock Link, was attacked by up to three males armed with what police believe was a catapult type weapon.

The DUP leader of Belfast City Council has questioned the funding of West Belfast Festival over alleged "pro-IRA singing" at one of their events. Councillor Ald Brian Kingston raised the issued after it was alleged that the crowed at a concert at the Festival chanted "ooh ah up the Ra".
