'Horses For Courses' As Charity Offers Classes

To help raise funds for winter feed, Crosskennan Animal sanctuary are now launching our riding lessons and experiences programs.’

Their qualified instructor is offering private one to one lessons for one hour, small group lessons (no more than four people), lead rein lessons - seven years and over for one hour, lead rein lessons and under seven years 30 mins, as well as 'back in the saddle' and picturesque rural rides on quiet country roads and carriage rides.

They cater for everyone; from the very nervous, novice rider to those looking for a more challenging experience.

Lyn Friel, Crosskennan's founder and Manager said: "We are most proud of the work that our horses and ponies are involved in as part of the Animals Helping People programs which have been running throughout the charity's 15 year history."

Horses Saved From Horrific Farm Conditions
A shocking find on a farm just a few miles from Belfast has seen more than 60 animals rescued while nine were past hope and were found dead. The horses and ponies were discovered a week ago in squalid conditions by a vet at the premises on the Lisnevenagh Road, Antrim where police found the animals living amongst the carcasses of nine dead animals.

Warning Issued After Jewellery Stolen In Antrim Burglary
The PSNI have issued a warning to jewellers and antique dealers to be on the lookout for a stolen gold watch with the inscription: "Honorary Consul to North Africa". Police made the call after thieves stole cash, expensive watches and antiques from a house in Glenavy. A store nearby was also broken into and horse riding equipment was taken.

Policewoman Killed In Horse Riding Accident
A policewoman has been killed in a horse riding accident in Ballygowan, Co Down. Constable Claire Lowe, 39, fell from her horse while she was taking part in a hunting event on Wednesday, 26 October. She is believed to have died at the scene. Lisburn and Castlereagh City District Commander Supt Sean Wright said: "Claire was in the prime of her life.
