Open + Direct donate a minibus to Children’s Hospice

As the finishing touches are put to the Children’s Hospice on the outskirts of Belfast, financial services company, Open + Direct has given the project a helping hand by presenting a new minibus to the Hospice as part of its ongoing fundraising initiative.

The minibus will be used to take children and families on outings. Open + Direct will maintain and service the vehicle and will also insure it for the foreseeable future.

John Laverty, Chairperson of the Charities Committee at Open + Direct said: “We have raised funds for the hospice since our company was set up two years ago and now that the building is complete we think it is important to help keep the service running. Around £1.5 million is needed each year and our staff hope to contribute towards this by continuing to hold our annual events and raffles.”

Patricia O’Callaghan, Head of Home at the Children’s Hospice said: “The staff at Open + Direct have been unwavering in their support for the hospice. We are absolutely delighted to receive this new minibus and would like to thank them for their contribution. The children will enjoy much more mobility and it will be a great help to staff and parents as well.”

Open + Direct has donated a total of £30,000 to the Hospice to date.

The money was raised by holding annual events such as ‘A Night at the Races’, as well as wine tasting evenings, raffles and corporate donations. (MB)
