IT Firm Creates 80 Jobs
Indian IT firm HCL Technologies is to create 80 jobs in Dublin over the next three years for IT graduates.
The new software delivery centre in Dublin will provide services to the financial services, insurance and healthcare industries.
Barry O'Leary the Chief Executive of the Industrial Development Association (IDA) said the company had been a major target since the setting up of an IDA office in India.
"This project is a strategic win for Ireland,'' said Mr O'Leary.
"HCL is one of the biggest brand names in the Indian IT sector and IDA is confident that this will be catalyst for further projects from Indian multinationals companies to establish operations in Ireland."
Meanwhile making the announcement Jobs Minister Richard Bruton said: "The real economic success story of Ireland in the mid/late 1990s was based in part on tapping into the global IT boom going on at that time.
"If we are to get out of the crisis we're in and create the jobs we so badly need, a key part of that will be to build on our established strengths and once again now take advantage of the rapid growth in the global IT industry – particularly coming from countries like India and China."
HCL Technologies is a leading global IT services company, with over 85,000 employees working across 31 countries.

Offshore Company Axes Jobs
Around 150 jobs in Aberdeen and Dundee have been axed after an offshore services company ceased trading. Oceanteam Power and Umbilical has been forced to close when the firm's holding company withdrew its financial support. Staff are based in Aberdeen, at workshops in Dundee and offshore.

Citrix Creates 50 New Jobs
Citrix has announced that it is increasing its workforce in Dublin by creating 50 full time jobs. These high value jobs are in addition to the 50 new jobs announced in August 2011 and demonstrate the on-going growth of Citrix technical support, sales, IT operations and online services divisions in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
