Old Woman Beaten In Own Home
The police are investigating after an 84-year-old woman was 'left black and blue' after an attack at her home in west Belfast.
Two men broke into Josie Hamilton's house on Agnes Street off the Shankill Road on Friday night.
They assaulted the pensioner and attempted to steal a number of items from her home.
"My shoulder is still sore and I'm a wee bit nervous still. I am shaking like a leaf. I hope I don't take a turn in the night but the Mater Hospital isn't too far away," she told BBC NI.
Ms Hamilton described those behind the attack as "scum".
Detectives in north Belfast are appealing for information following a the incident and said that at about 8.00pm on Friday 30th September it was reported that two youths gained entrance to a house in the Agnes Street area and physically assaulted the resident, who is in her 80s.
"It is unclear at present if anything was stolen from the house," said the statement.
"The woman was taken to hospital and treated for cuts and bruising and was left badly shaken," the PSNI concluded adding that anyone who witnessed two youths acting suspiciously in the area or has any information is asked to contact CID in Antrim Road on 0845 600 800.
Callers who would prefer to provide information without giving their details can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
