NI Plastics Firm Secures International Business

An NI plastic products manufactuer has agreed a significant business deal for its PVC products - securing jobs at Boomer Industries in Lisburn.

It has signed off on a deal with a new customer in Saudi Arabia for its PVC products including pre-hung door systems.

The company is supplying its products and services to Nesma Spacemaker, a modular building company which is based in Al Khobar, Eastern Saudi Arabia.

The products are for a major project that Nesma is carrying out on behalf of Saudi Aramco, which is closely associated with the kingdom’s petroleum business.

This is not however the first international client for Boomer Industries. They are currently negotiating to supply products for a number of construction projects in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile the company also exports products to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Nigeria and the US. It is currently exploring other business opportunities in Ghana.

Dr Vicky Kell, Invest Northern Ireland Trade Director said: “This important contract for Boomer Industries shows the benefits that can result from a sharp focus on Saudi Arabia, still among the world's most dynamic markets and one currently investing heavily in construction and infrastructure projects.

"Boomer Industries has a long-term commitment to the region and is among our most active companies there. We continue to encourage and assist Northern Ireland companies, both large and small, to engage with this important market through our extensive programme of trade missions."

Boomer Industries said: "We've been exporting to the Middle East for over 30 years and have developed a network of business contacts in key markets there including Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and now Afghanistan."

Established in 1970 and currently employing 45 people at its modern manufacturing plant in Knockmore Hill Business Park, Lisburn, Boomer Industries provides extruded plastic products for the modular building, construction and transport industries.
