Two men injured after light aircraft crash

Two men have been injured after a light aircraft crashed in a field in County Londonderry.

The accident happened at around 8.45pm on Thursday evening at the junction of Bolea Road and Drumalief Road in Limavady. Both men were taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where one is currently described as "ill, but stable", and the other is in a stable condition.

While an investigation into the crash is currently under way, Duty Ambulance controller Seamus McAllister, who arrived on the scene, said it seemed that the plane had plummeted into the ground.

Both men somehow removed themselves from their crashed plane before the emergency services arrived on the scene.

Councillor Edwin Stevenson, who represents the area, said he was amazed the two men weren't more seriously hurt after seeing the wreckage. (MB)
