Foyle Film Festival 'Shakes The World'

Following on from the marking of the tenth Anniversary of 9/11, the theme of the 24th Foyle Film Festival this November will be 'Events That Shook The World'.

As well as exploring the impact of September 11, the festival will highlight other significant events that have had an impact on the local and global political stage, with some enrapturing pieces of film.

Events such as the Holocaust, the Civil Rights Movement (both domestic and international), Bloody Sunday, the Omagh bombing, the Assassination of John F Kennedy and the Rwandan crisis all come under the festival spotlight this year. In addition to the special themed events, the programme includes the usual eclectic mix of contemporary, foreign language film, documentaries, competition short films and animations, as well as workshops and industry events.

The Opening Night Gala is 'The Artist', and the Closing Night Gala is 'Shame'.

The main festival venues this year are the Nerve Centre Cinema, the Nerve Centre Creative Learning Centre, 7-8 Magazine Street, Derry/Londonderry, N.Ireland, BT48 6HJ, the Omniplex Derry, and the Void Art Gallery.

The 24th Foyle Film Festival takes place from Wednesday 23-Sunday 27 November 2011.
