Kilkeel Crash Witnesses Sought By PSNI
The police have issued an appeal for information after two men were injured in a serious road accident in Kilkeel, Co Down.
The collision - involving a white Peugot 306 and a silver Volkswagen Golf - took place close to St Louis Grammar School on the Newry Road at around 6.30am on Monday and one of the men was thrown from his vehicle sustaining head and leg injuries.
A second man - who was trapped inside a car - was also hurt.
The injured pair, aged 31 and 38, were taken to Daisy Hill Hospital, Newry.
Police would now like to speak to anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward.
Last summer, a man died in a three-vehicle road crash on the same stretch of road.
He was 71-year-old Kevin McEvoy, who was from the area.
Two other people involved in the August 2011 accident were taken to hospital with injuries that proved not to be life threatening.
The most recent crash - on Monday morning - was only hours after two people on a quad also crashed in Kilkeel. It happened at around 2.45am on Sunday in the Bridge Street area of the fishing port.
The Police Ombudsman is to investigate the incident in which a teen was seriously injured.
The driver of the vehicle was suspected of dangerous driving and failed to stop for police. Officers found the quad had crashed a short time later.
A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital for his injuries to be treated, where his condition was yesterday described as serious but stable.
