£8m Social Housing On Way For Derry

Tenders are currently being sought for the construction of 60 houses in a social development scheme in Londonderry.

Planning applications revealed the intention for 60 houses with an option for a further 40 social housing units on lands between Glengalliagh Road and Racecourse Road, Bradley's Pass, in the city.

Engineering services, external and site development works will also be tackled during the project.

According to www.unearthore.com it is estimated that the scheme will cost around £8m and will take in the region of 18 months to complete.

If promoters, Apex Housing, decide to build another 40 house on the site, with engineering services, external and site development works it is estimated that this will take a further 15 months to complete.

Spring Budget 'Missed Opportunity' For Public Services Investment
The financial outlook for all of the UK's devolved governments' public services remains "extremely challenging", Finance Minister, Caoimhe Archibald has warned. Following the announcement of the Spring Budget by the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, Minister Archibald said that it was a missed opportunity for investment in public services.

Crumlin Social Housing Scheme Opened
A new social housing scheme of three and four bedroom houses has been officially opened in Crumlin. The fourteen new homes for families on the social housing waiting list, is owned and managed by Habinteg Housing Association who funded the build, with support from the Department for Social Development.

Economy Minister Meets With Further Education Unions
Economy Minister, Conor Murphy, has held a meeting with representatives of the UCU and NASUWT unions representing workers in the further education sector to discuss the requirements of a new pay award.
