O’Neill Wants Stronger NI Squad

In a bid to build a stronger Northern Ireland football team new manager Michael O'Neill is aiming to change the minds of young players who have opted to switch to the Republic of Ireland. Meanwhile O’Neill hopes that players like Aaron Hughes who are currently in International retirement may opt out of it. The Former Shamrock Rovers manager said that his aim was to build a stronger pool of players.

'Destroy Slimming Pills'

In the republic the board overseeing medicines has issued a warning over certain slimming pills, calling for them to be destroyed and disposed of. The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) issued their strong precautionary message on Wednesday for consumers on the health dangers of taking any slimming products containing Sibutramine. The IMB said Sibutramine was withdrawn from use as a medicine in Ireland and across the entire EU in early 2010 due to the increased risk of heart attacks and strokes. Specifically, the IMB is warning consumers not to purchase particular slimming products which may be available illegally online, as packs of those products have been found to contain Sibutramine.

NI Getting Back To Normal After Storms

The worst is thought to be over after the violent gusts that have tore across our landscape left a trail of destruction in their wake. Trains and bus services were disrupted and some flights and ferries were cancelled and delayed yesterday, but last night transport officials reported things were back to normal. Meanwhile fewer than 100 homes are still without electricity but this compares with 3,500 customers who were still without power, last night.
