More Job Losses Feared As Sit-In Continues
It has been reported that further job losses at a foam manufacturer could emerge due to an on-going sit-in by former employees in Cork.
Vita Cortex currently employs 28 people in Northern Ireland’s capital and a further 32 people at locations in Athlone and Cork.
This news follows the closure of a plant on the Kinsdale Road in Cork on December 16.
Thirty-two employees have been staging a sit in at the company since the closure and the announcement that they would not receive redundancy payments.
In a statement the company said "ongoing negative publicity" of the sit-in was undermining management's efforts to "maintain the existing levels of business and the employment needed to service it, which is heading to further potential job losses in the very near future".

Irish food company Dairygold have told unions and staff at its Michelstown plant that 500 jobs losses by the end of the year are "unavoidable". The company, one of the largest employers in the Cork region, last year saw profits slashed to euro 5 million.
