LRC Initiative Welcomed On Vita Cortex Dispute
The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation has welcomed the confirmation that the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) and has invited both parties to the dispute at the Vita Cortex factory to meet in Cork next Tuesday to clarify the facts of the situation and to explore with the parties the potential for moving forward.
Richard Bruton's TD officials engaged in continuous contact over the Christmas period with the workers’ union representatives to try to clarify the issues involved and to make them aware that the industrial relations machinery of the State was available to them to help them resolve the dispute.
The Minister said: "I welcome the initiative by the LRC and would urge both parties to engage constructively in the process. I am pleased that dialogue between the parties to the dispute has now been facilitated."

LRC Step In Over Passport Dispute
The Labour Relations Commission has stepped into the dispute at the Passport Office where industrial action has led to a backlog of over 61,000 applications. Representatives of the Civil and Public Service Union and the Department of Foreign Affairs have now been called to the Labour Relations Commission after the row escalated.

AGSI Accept Pay Proposal With 95% Majority
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) have voted to accept the Labour Court pay proposals by a majority of 95%. It is understood that the AGSI ballot had a turnout of 71% and the result will stop any further strike action by garda officers.
