Man Dies In Rathcoole Blaze
An elderly man died in a house fire yesterday afternoon in the Rathcoole estate, Newtownabbey.
The 83-year-old died in a blaze in his bungalow in Carmeen Drive.
A second man, believed to be a neighbour in his 50s, is being treated for smoke inhalation while attempting to rescue the pensioner.
Fire and Forensic Officers are currently carrying out an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has welcomed the graduation of 36 new firefighters, the final graduates to complete their journey at the Boucher Learning & Development Centre (LDC). This graduating class marks the official opening of the final phase of their new cutting edge training facility in Cookstown.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a serious assault in Portadown that it being investigated as a 'disability hate crime'. On Saturday, 24 February, at around 5.20pm, police received a report that a young man had been attacked by six teenage boys in the High Street Mall area.
