County Armagh Haulage Firm Shuts

Noel Zwecker International Transport, based on the outskirts of Armagh, has closed.

More than 50 jobs have gone as a result.

The family-run haulage firm blamed increased fuel costs and the economic downturn.

It was founded in 1970 by Noel Zwecker to service both the National and International Transport and Haulage Industry, transporting all manner of perishable goods throughout Ireland, the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe.

Cross-Border Transport Gets Green Light
The launch of a cross border rural transport pilot project in counties Fermanagh and Donegal has received a high-level boost. The Northern Ireland Transport Minister Conor Murphy and his counterpart in the Irish Republic, Minister Noel Dempsey, have jointly welcomed the initiative.

Sacked Cloughmills Workers Blockade Company
Workers at a bankrupt haulage firm are this afternoon blocking the entrance to the company's premises. The employees of Cloughmills-based Reid Transport Ltd said they want to be paid what they are owed and are angry at finding themselves out of work. Some five lorries are now queued outside the depot and are unable to get in.

Infrastructure Minister Launches Draft Transport Strategy 2035 Consultation
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has launched a public consultation on the draft Transport Strategy 2035, inviting everyone in Northern Ireland to help shape the future of the region's transport system. The consultation opens today, Thursday, 26 June 2025, and will run for 12 weeks.

Transport Infrastructure Key To Supporting Hospitality And Tourism
Transport infrastructure plays a key role in supporting Northern Ireland's hospitality and tourism sectors, Infrastructure Minister, John O'Dowd, has said. Minister O'Dowd has met with the newly formed Connectivity Coalition to discuss how the transport, hospitality and tourism sectors can work together.
