Shots Fired At House In West Belfast

A child has sustained minor cuts after shots were fired at a house in west Belfast according to the police.

The house, in the Mill Race area, was targeted at around 6.40pm on Saturday evening.

A three-year-old boy was standing under the window when it shattered.

Police said a woman and children were inside the house at the time of the attack.

SDLP Upper Falls Cllr Tim Attwood has said his community is disgusted.

Cllr Attwood said: "This was a shameful attack on a woman and innocent children in a close-knit residential area.

"No child should ever be subject to terror or intimidation in West Belfast or anywhere in our society. What those responsible for firing these shots thought they could possibly achieve by targeting these defenceless people is beyond me.

"This incident is sickening and unjustifiable. It is so fortunate that no one was physically injured or killed by these mindless thugs, although undoubtedly this has been extremely traumatic for the victims.

"It is vital that anyone with information passes it onto the police or an elected representative urgently so that the criminals responsible can be punished."

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them immediately.
