Brothers Robbed At Their Home By Masked Gang

Two elderly brothers have been robbed by a gang at their house in the outskirts of Newry last night.

One of the brothers was hit on the face with an iron bar, as the gang ransacked the bedrooms at around 8.30pm.

The thieves forced their way into the property at Lurganare Cross.

They got away with the men's pensions.

Both brothers were taken to hospital and one sustained a facial injury.

The Sinn Fein Mayor of Newry said the family were well respected within the community and that their thoughts were with the victims.

Police are currently appealing for information.
