Sudden Death Guide Launched

Health Minister Edwin Poots has launched a guide to help health professionals offer support to those bereaved by the sudden death of a loved one.
Speaking at the launch, the Minister said: “Dealing with the death of a loved one is always a very difficult time - even more difficult when the death is unexpected or traumatic. The impacts of sudden death or traumatic bereavement are unique for each individual. Approximately 10% of deaths in Northern Ireland each year are sudden or occur in a traumatic way, such as road traffic collisions, accidents, suicides and assaults.
“The effects vary greatly from one bereaved person to another. Many people receive support from their family, friends and their community. For others, especially those bereaved traumatically, more intensive or expert support and intervention may be required.”

Teenager Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Robbery

A teenager found with his arm stuck in the letterbox of a house has been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.

Fire crews had to remove the letterbox from the door in order to free the 17-year-old at the property in Dunmurry, near Belfast.

He was then taken to a police station with the letterbox still wedged on to his hand, where it was eventually removed.

The youth was seen in Margaretta Crescent by a passing police patrol at 4.10am on Thursday.

He remains in custody being questioned on suspicion of attempted burglary.

Major Export Deal For CEM Systems In Mongolia

The company, part of Tyco Security Products, is to supply its market leading access control system to secure the Oyu Tolgoi Copper and Gold mine in Mongolia’s remote South Gobi region.

Arlene Foster said: “This must surely be the most remote market in which one of our companies is now doing business. We really shouldn’t be surprised to find CEM securing a contract in Mongolia because this excellent company has a longstanding and successful track record in terms of the innovation of its products and its commitment to travel the world in search of business.

“These and other impressive features of the business attracted Tyco International to acquire the company and to invest substantially in new product development for global markets.

“As a result of this strategic focus on growth through export-focused innovation, CEM equipment is used in virtually every continent to ensure the highest level of building security, including in many of the world’s busiest airports. Virtually every airport in the UK, for instance, has installed sophisticated CEM systems.

“The business, in addition, has experienced annual growth in excess of 20% over the past three years in international markets and is now among the world’s top five leaders in building security systems.”
