Primark Strike Cancelled

The two-day strike due to be held by Primark staff in Northern Ireland has been cancelled.

Staff at Primark stores had threatened to walk out today and tomorrow in a bid to protest against a further two-year pay freeze.

Now due to an 'eleventh hour' pay offer the Union, Udsaw, has confirmed that staff will consider the offer and in turn have cancelled the strike.

If the strike had went ahead it is likely that all eight Primark stores across the country would have been closed this weekend.

Nicola Scarborough, Usdaw Area Organiser said: "After lengthy but constructive negotiations held at the LRA today, Primark has tabled an offer that we have agreed to put to our members in a ballot.

"As a result, we have also agreed to suspend the industrial action planned for this weekend in order for our members to consider the offer from the company."

In total 88% of Primark's Udsaw members had voted in favour of strike action.
