PROPERTY PRICES CONTINUE TO RISE
HALIFAX has revealed that UK property prices are rising at their fastest rate since May 2000.
Releasing their monthly survey the mortgage bank showed the price of the average home rose 1.6 per cent in June, leaving them 9.7 per cent higher than over the past 12 months.
With these latest property price figures it is believed that the Bank of England are unlikely to cut interest rates at its monthly two-day meeting beginning on Wednesday.
Halifax also revealed that the average property price had risen by five per cent in the April-June quarter and although prospects remained good, they warned that slower economic growth would cause inflation to ease. In addition to price rises, mortgage borrowing is also growing at its fastest pace on record, according to the latest Bank of England figures.
Halifax’s latest statistics follow Tuesday’s Nationwide figures, whose measure of house prices showed a 1.9 per cent rise in June to stand 9.3 per cent higher than a year earlier.

Halifax report continuing rise in house prices
House prices in the UK have risen by almost 17 per cent according to the latest survey figures released by the Halifax. The report, published on Thursday 7 March, has shown that in February, property prices rose by more than one-sixth on the same time a year earlier – representing the fastest annual rate of growth in 12 years.

Further falls in price of UK manufactured goods
The Office of National Statistics have produced a report which shows that the price of goods manufactured in the UK have fallen in the last month. Between October and November the UK producer prices fell by 0.4 per cent, compared with a fall of 0.2 per cent between September and October.

UK house prices soar by 2.8 per cent
UK house prices rose 2.8 per cent in September, the highest monthly increase in eight years, according to a report by the building society Nationwide. The figures revealed in the report reveal that the price of the average UK home was 15 per cent higher last month than in September 2000.

UK producer prices show marginal fall
Overall UK manufacturing prices fell by 0.2 per cent in July from those from June. According to the latest figures available form the Office for National Statistics the past year has seen the prices charged to manufacturers, the input prices, fall for the first time in over two years.
