Woman Arrested Over Tang Murder Released

A 31-year-old woman arrested yesterday in connection with the murder of Simon Tang 16 years ago has been released on bail.

The 28-year-old business man, was beaten and robbed as he left his takeaway business on 24 June 1996. He was taken to hospital but died the following day, leaving a wife and two sons.

It was originally believed the attack was carried out by two youths who stole the night's takings and Mr Tang's watch.

Since an appeal for information on BBC programme Crime Watch, aired on March 20, a 53-year-old woman was arrested but later released. The 31- year-old was the second person to be arrested since the fresh appeal.

No one has been charged with the murder.
