Schoolboy Finds Gun In Field

It has been revealed that an 11 year-old boy brought home a gun, which he found discarded in a field in County Armagh, at the weekend.

The boy's mother, Denise Fitzpatrick, said her son found the gun in a field at Colane Road near Aghagallon on Saturday afternoon while he was looking for golf balls and later brought it home in a plastic bag.

It is understood that the gun was in such a bad condition that it probably could not have been fired.

Mrs Fitzpatrick said it was not worth thinking about what could have happened if the weapon had been in better condition.

The gun has been handed over to the police and it is now being examined by forensic experts.
