ROYAL MAIL WORKERS FACE LOYALIST THREATS
THE Royal Mail may suspend deliveries in a south Belfast suburb if loyalist threats continue to be made against Catholic delivery staff.
The Post Office has taken some staff out of Seymour Hill in Dunmurry.
For the past week Royal Mail delivery workers have been approached by people in the Seymour Hill area, and they have been advised that certain members should not be entering.
Michael Kennedy, the Royal Mail’s Area Manager, is taking the threats very seriously and he has admitted that it has not been the first time that an incident like this has happened in the area.
Mr Kennedy has met with representatives from the Communication Workers Union and is hoping to arrange meetings with political representatives. (CD)

School Workers To Consider Further Strike Action
School workers in Northern Ireland are to consider further industrial action, in an ongoing dispute over pay. The GMB Union, which represents more than 3,000 classroom assistants, kitchen staff, bus drivers, cleaners, admin workers and others, met with Education Minister Paul Givan at Stormont on Tuesday, 20 February.

Thousands Of Public Sector Workers Begin Strike Action
Northern Ireland's largest strike in around 50 years has gotten underway today, 18 January. Around 170,000 public sector workers are taking part in the industrial action. Members from over 15 unions including health, education and transport workers are taking part in the day of mass industrial action.

Translink Workers Reject Pay Offer
Translink NI workers have rejected a pay offer from the public transport company. Unite, GMB and SIPTU confirmed that their members has "decisively voted to reject as inadequate" a pay offer made by Translink management. Workers were offered a 5% pay increase and a non-consolidated one-off payment of £1,500 for the 2023-2024 financial year.

Postal deliveries disrupted following threat against worker
Postal deliveries were disrupted in Londonderry following a threat made against a Catholic postman who works in the Waterside area of the city. The warning was given during a phone call to the Samaritans on Sunday.
