NI Beats April Sunshine Records

N.Ireland was the sunniest part of the UK in April.

The rest of Britain faced a wetter and duller month than normal while NI was drier and brighter with more sunshine and less rain.

"We had 67mm of rain, that is 95% of our normal rainfall amount," Weather presenter Barra Best told the BBC.

"We had 160.8 hours of sunshine, which is 113% of the amount of sunshine we normally see in April."

Driest September On Record For NI
The Met Office has said September 2014 looks set to be the driest September since records began. Initial figures, which do not include the 29th or 30th of the month, reveal that just 6.5mm of rain fell in September. This is just 7% of the of the average amount of rainfall expected. The last record was set in 1986 when 9.7mm of rain fell.

Warm Weather To Continue Across NI
The warm sunny weather is set to continue this week across Northern Ireland. The Met Office said it will be "locally very warm" across the west with a maximum temperature of 24 degrees today, 05 June. It will be dry with some sunshine this evening. On Tuesday the temperature will rise to 23 degrees.

NI Temperatures To Soar To Over 20 Degrees
Temperatures in Northern Ireland are to soar to over 20 degrees throughout this week. Wednesday is to remain dry and bright with a maximum temperature of 21 degrees. A Met Office spokesperson said: "It will be a fine dry and bright day with long spells of unbroken sunshine, and just a little patchy fairweather cloud.

NI Temperatures To Soar To 25 Degrees
Temperatures throughout Northern Ireland are expected to soar to 25 degrees over the next couple of days. Sunshine is to continue until Tuesday, 18 July, however thundery showers are expected on Wednesday, 19 July, until Friday, 21 July.

NI Sunshine Warning From Cancer Charity
As one of the best ever spells of sunny weather faded away overnight with showers finally ending the May Day weekend's blue skies, the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) has launched its 2011 Care in the Sun campaign to raise awareness of sun protection.
