Foster Addresses Mobile Financial Services Technology Conference

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has addressed senior technology representatives from some of the world's leading banks, financial and telecommunications sectors at the Mobey Forum member meeting in Titanic Belfast.

The quarterly event is an opportunity for leading global banks and ICT firms to come together to address current and future developments affecting mobile financial services. This is the first time since 2007 that Mobey Forum has held the event in the UK. Invest Northern Ireland is a member of Mobey Forum and has been actively involved in developing its Board and membership.

Speaking at the conference, Arlene Foster said: "There is a need for public and private sectors to work more closely together to harness new market opportunities. Continued investment in our infrastructure, from telecoms to transportation, will ensure we have the conditions businesses need to compete in the global market place.

"Northern Ireland offers an ideal platform for the development of mobile financial services and over the last 10 years has attracted a wide range of global financial institutions and technology players to the region.

"The Northern Ireland Executive is concentrating on building a knowledge-based economy and is committed to ensuring that our young and talented workforce have the skills and experience to grow these target sectors.

"I would like to acknowledge Mobey Forum’s efforts to define a sustainable and prosperous mobile financial ecosystem. Its role in facilitating industry debate, information sharing and best practice is a benchmark for other industries and sectors."
