Ulster Bank Payments Delayed Further

A bank that has been plagued with technical difficulties over the past few days has said its payments system will not be fully up and running until Monday.

Although Ulster Bank said the days-long backlog would be resolved today, many customers are still unable to access recent payments.

The technical issues are national and have also affected sister banks RBS and NatWest.

An RBS source has told the BBC that the underlying issue has been fixed but a backlog needs to be cleared.

Twenty-eight branches across NI are to open until 7pm today (Friday 22), to help customers access salaries and benefit payments.

An Ulster Bank spokeswoman said: "Customers who have incurred fees or charges as a result of this issue will be fully refunded in due course."
