Samurai Sword Raid In Co Down

A man with a samurai sword robbed a filling station in County Down last night.

He was with another man and both had their faces covered when they threatened a member of staff in the petrol station on the Downpatrick Road in Ardglass.

The member of staff was not injured but the men escaped with cash in a Vauxhall Vectra that was later found by police.

North Belfast Bomb Alert 'Hoax'

A bomb alert that saw houses in the Antrim Road area evacuated has ended.

Workmen at Salisbury Avenue found a suspicious object, but bomb disposal experts later declared it a hoax.

Bonfire Men Attack Firefighters

Eight men threw bottles at firefighters and shouted abuse in the early hours of Sunday morning in Hamiltonsbawn, County Armagh.

The crews had responded to reports that a bonfire was out of control.

A number of people have escaped injury after a series of gun and pipe bomb attacks on their homes in County Antrim. A ten-year-old boy escaped in jury after shots were fired into a house at Mounthill Drive in Cloughmills, County Antrim.

Pair Arrested Over Attempted Bomb Attack On Police
Police have arrested two men as part of investigations into an attempted bomb attack on officers in Strabane in County Tyrone. Officers were lured to the Ballycolman estate on 23 October to investigate a report that a bomb had been thrown at a police patrol vehicle the night before.

Man injured during armed robbery
One man has been injured following an armed robbery at an off-licence in south Belfast yesterday evening. The incident happened at around 6pm, when two masked and armed men entered the premises in the Ormeau Road area of the city and threatened a male member of staff.

Viable Pipe Bomb Found In North Belfast
A viable pipe bomb has been found in north Belfast, police have confirmed. Police and army bomb experts discovered the device in the garden of a house in Shore Crescent on Monday. The pipe bomb has been removed for further examination. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Lisburn On Alert As Pipe Bomb Explodes
There's an ongoing security alert in progress in Lisburn, Co Antrim after a pipe bomb device exploded at 9.30am this morning. A family escaped injury in the blast and the PSNI have said this afternoon that is not clear if the explosion occurred when the car drove over it, or that it had fallen off the vehicle.
