Co Antrim Firm Sets Out To Double Sales In Next Two Years

Dunloy building company Dixons Contractors is aiming to double its sales by expanding its reach into the Great Britain market with support from Invest Northern Ireland.

Dixons is particularly targeting the social housing market in Great Britain, a sector in which it has substantial experience.

To support its move into the Great Britain marketplace for the first time in its 40-year trading history, Dixons is investing £248,000 in strategic growth. The investment covers spending on marketing, IT and the recruitment of seven new staff. Invest NI has offered over £83,000 of support.

D J Dixon, Managing Director, said: "We want to expand our customer base and market reach to reduce dependency on the local market and protect the future viability of the company.

"The support from Invest NI is essential to allowing us to develop our internal capability, put the resources in place to market our services effectively and drive export sales."

Currently employing 64, the company operates predominantly in the commercial, leisure, housing market and education sectors.

Gren Armstrong, Manager of Invest NI's North East Regional Office, said: "This is an exciting and ambitious move for this family business, which aims to double its sales over the next two years.

"To support this expansion Invest NI has helped Dixons to install a range of software systems to help it streamline its operations. We are also supporting the company’s marketing activity and in particular assisting with the development of an export plan and providing specialist advice on the construction market in Great Britain."
