Confidential Helpline Documents Blown Across City

A charity has apologised after confidential documents were found strewn across Derry city centre at the weekend.

Contact NI, which runs the Lifeline counselling helpline across Northern Ireland, confirmed that the identities of up to 20 people who had called them were clearly visible on some of the documents.

It said the documents were stored in a bag which nudged a fire exit open and blew out in the wind.

Contact NI asked any members of the public who find the documents to please return them to their Embassy Building offices.

Pensioner's House Ransacked

A 74-year-old man is recovering after his south Belfast home was burgled by men pretending to be from the Water Board.

The men overpowered him when he asked for identification, and pushed their way into the Ashley Avenue house, which they ransacked.

The thief is described as being 5ft 9ins to 6ft tall, with chubby features, clean-shaven and with short, dark hair.

Belfast Parks Win Ten Out Of Ten

Ten parks in Belfast have scored ten out of ten at the Green Flag awards.

They included Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park, Botanic Gardens and Cavehill Country Park.

Belfast's Lord Mayor Gavin Robinson said: “"I congratulate all the parks and the staff who have worked so hard to achieve this quality standard.”

Green Flag awards, overseen by environmental charities, reward park management, aesthetics, conservation and heritage, safety, marketing, community involvement and environmental sustainability.

Life Saving Defibrillators Installed In Five Parks Across Belfast
Belfast City Council has installed life-saving defibrillators in five parks across Belfast. The defibrillators, which can be used to help someone suffering a cardiac arrest, have been installed in Victoria Park, Waterworks Park, Boucher Playing Fields, Tullycarnet Park and Fullerton Park.

Stormont Allocated £31.4m For No-Deal Prep
Northern Ireland's Department of Finance received £31.4 million from the UK Government in August to facilitate plans for a no-deal Brexit, it's been revealed. A total of £2.1 billion was allocated by the Treasury for such preparations across the UK.

Finance Manager Settles Alleged Sex Discrimination Claim For £50,000
A finance manager, who was made redundant after she returned to work following maternity leave, has settled an alleged sex discrimination claim against her employer for £50,000. Ruth Parks took the claim against her employer Noonan Services Group with the support of the Equality Commission.

Pitbull terrier seized from GAA player's home
The USPCA has seized a pit bull terrier believed to be involved in an international dog-fighting ring, from the home of a well known GAA player. The animal was taken from Tyrone GAA player, Ger Cavlan following a planned operation by the PSNI and the USPCA.

Family of murdered pensioner call for UN investigation
SDLP Mid Ulster representative Denis Haughey has backed a group of Tyrone families who have called on the United Nations rapporteur for summary executions to investigate the killings of their loved ones. Among the families being backed was that of 76-year-old Roseanne Mallon who was shot dead by loyalists on the outskirts of Dungannon in May 1994.
