Ombudsman Releases Ulster Bank Compensation Guide.
The Financial Ombudsman has published details of how people affected by the RBS crisis can claim compensation, but warned that it would require legwork from customers.
The ombudsman has listed the types of loss for which claims could be considered, including bank charges, phone calls and legal bills.
Indirect losses and expenses could also be considered for claims – such as having to take time off work to deal with urgent banking problems.
And under another heading entitled "trouble, stress and inconvenience", the ombudsman advises that people may be able to claim if they have been embarrassed at not being able to pay back a debt.
Thousands of customers at RBS and sister banks Natwest and Ulster Bank were left out of pocket when a technical glitch at RBS Group meant their accounts could not be updated.
Ulster Bank accounts took longest to be sorted out, with trouble dragging on until last week, on July 16.
David Cresswell of the Financial Ombudsman Service stressed that claim payments would not come in "automatically".
He said: "It's really important for people to realize they are going to have to claim things themselves, it won't necessarily happen automatically. There's so much stuff that unless you write it down and actually claim, no-one else is going to know about it."

A spokesperson for Ulster Bank said it would "shortly" announce details of its own compensation scheme.
