Bike Hire Scheme For Belfast

Belfast is to get its own public bicycle hire scheme with 30 stands across the city hosting 300 bikes.

The Department of Regional Development has awarded £700,000 for the plan, which follows the success of similar schemes in Dublin and London.

The scheme will be up and running within three years.

Grants were also given to cycle path projects in Craigavon and Londonderry.

County Down Rape Investigation Dropped

Police have said they are no longer investigating reports of a rape in Dromore, County Down on Sunday night and are instead preparing to prosecute the woman in relation to false allegations.

The PSNI said today they are preparing a file for the prosecution service in relation to allegations made by a woman in her twenties.

Body Found In South Belfast

A man's body has been found in a derelict site close to Knockbracken Health Care Park on the Saintfield Road.

Police and the North West Mountain Rescue team had been searching in the area for a missing man.

The body has yet to be identified and police are investigating the circumstances.

Scam Warning Issued Following Taylor Swift Ticket Fraud
The PSNI in Derry City & Strabane have warned people to be wary of scammers following a report this week of a person who thought they'd bought tickets online for a Taylor Swift concert only to find out they'd been swindled. According to police, it was reported that a person had found tickets for the concert on an online platform.

Appeal For Witnesses Following Stabbing In Portadown
A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Portadown on Wednesday, 01 May. At 3.25pm yesterday, police received a report that a man with a knife had been seen in the Portmore Street area.

PSNI Welcomes 'Positive' Crime Data Inspection Report
PSNI Assistant Chief Officer, Aldrina Magwood, has welcomed the positive findings of His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) report. HMICFRS has published its review of its inspection of crime data integrity of the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

BCC Unveils Refreshed Strategic Plan For Belfast City Centre
New plans to support the most vulnerable in Belfast while growing the economy, regenerating neighbourhoods and achieving climate targets have been published in a refreshed strategic plan for the city. First published in 2017, the Belfast Agenda set out joint vision for the city up to 2035.
