Employment Services Supports 80 Jobs For Home Bargains
The Department for Employment and Learning's Employment Service is assisting Home Bargains with its recruitment of 80 staff following the announcement of a further two new stores.
The announcement was welcomed today by Employment and Learning Minister, Dr Stephen Farry, who met with senior representatives of the company as plans were unveiled for their new store at Cityside retail park which will open on Saturday 11 August.
The Minister said: "I welcome TJ Morris commitment to recruit 80 new employees through my Department’s Employment Service. The primary aim of the public Employment Service is to prepare people for work and help individuals to acquire jobs - helping employers to fill vacancies, and improving the linkages between employment programmes and skills development.
"This approach has created employment opportunities for people in local communities. In the current economic climate it is vital that we do all we can to help people find jobs and progress in the labour market."
The Employment Service, through a network of 35 Jobs and Benefits offices and JobCentres, offers a range of services to the unemployed, job seekers or job changers including assistance with training and help to find employment. It also offers a range of vacancy services for employers including advertising, recruitment events, sifting applications and interview facilities.
Home Bargains is investing approximately £1million in two new Northern Ireland stores, which will open within the next three months. The retailer has already generated over 200 jobs with the opening of five stores across Northern Ireland. It is now opening an additional two stores in Belfast and Craigavon, bringing a further 80 jobs to local people.

Irish employment confidence is showing signs of recovery, according to results of the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey. For the quarter January to March 2003, the Net Employment Outlook is 3%, which is a modest recovery of 7% points from the previous quarter’s pessimistic outlook.

Bangor Company Creates 14 New Jobs on Back Of Web Innovations
Bangor-based company Omnisoft Services Ltd has created 14 new jobs in an expansion driven by the growth of its web design services and the development of a new product for the educational market. The expansion is being supported by Invest Northern Ireland, which has offered £44,000 of support for 11 of the jobs through its Jobs Fund scheme.
