Belfast Rolling Stones Film To Be Screened
A rare film of The Rolling Stones, filmed partly in Belfast during their first ever Irish tour in 1965, is to be screened at the New York Film Festival at the end of next month.
The Stones played two shows each day in Belfast, at the ABC cinema, where Jury’s Inn now stands, Dublin and Cork between January 6th and 8th 1965 - just weeks after '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' hit No. 1 on the charts.
The movie - originally directed by Peter Whitehead and produced by longtime Rolling Stones manager and producer Andrew Loog Oldham - has been meticulously restored.
It provides an intimate, behind-the-scenes diary of life on the road with the band, with the professionally shot video capturing the frenzy surrounding the band as they were mobbed in each city.
Bits and pieces of the footage have surfaced over the years, but it has never been seen in full until now. The world premiere of 'The Rolling Stones Charlie Is My Darling - Ireland 1965' will take place on Saturday September 29th.
The film will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 6th.
