Man Killed Neighbour At Pedestrian Crossing
A man from Londonderry has pleaded guilty to killing his 65-year-old neighbour through careless driving.
Lawrence Conaghan, 41, from Lisfannon Park, admitted striking Sarah Duffy when she stepped on to a pedestrian crossing, at Lecky Road in the Bogside area last March.
The court was told that Mrs Duffy had her umbrella up at the time of the incident.
Landsdowne Hotel Bought By UK Hotel Chain
A hotel that went into administration almost four months ago has been bought by the UK hotel chain Metro Inns.
About 30 jobs were lost and customers who had booked functions at the Landsdowne Hotel on the Antrim Road were left shocked at the closure in May this year.
Metro Inns, which owns hotels across England and Scotland, said in a statement: "Metro Inns hope to re-ignite the wonderful reputation this famous hotel enjoys and by engaging with the local community and its staff we hope to deliver a first class service to the people of Belfast and beyond."
Michelin Start Dream For NI Student
A 19-year-old student at South West College in Dungannon has secured a dream scholarship with Raymond Blanc, Michelin starred chef.
Lauren Beavers won the two-week scholarship at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Blanc's restaurant in Oxfordshire, after cooking for the world-famous chef himself.
He was so impressed he offered her a job straight away – but Lauren decided to finish her studies first.

Translink Brings Back Love Metro Saturdays
Translink has announced the return of its popular Love Metro Saturdays day ticket offering unlimited travel onboard Metro services throughout Belfast for just £2 every Saturday in February. In addition, Translink will provide free bus services from both Cairnshill and Black’' Road Park and Ride sites every Saturday in February.

A number of roads remain closed across Northern Ireland following the damage caused by Storm Ali. The following roads are still closed, however the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is working to clear the obstructions along with its multiagency partners.
