NI soldier shot in southern Iraq
A soldier from Northern Ireland has been shot while on duty in southern Iraq.
Confirming the news, the Ministry of Defence said the soldier had already been flown to England where he is being treated for a flesh wound to a leg.
The soldier's mother has been flown in to be at his bedside.
Around 1,000 men and women from Northern Ireland are currently serving in the Gulf.

Second Masserene Soldier Buried
The second of the two soldiers tragically murdered outside their barracks in Antrim was buried in London today. Sapper Patrick Azimkar, who is from the capital, was shot dead along with fellow soldier Mark Quinsey as they collected a fast-food delivery at the gates of Massareene Army base in Antrim, on 7 March.

NI Soldier Killed In Afghanistan
It has emerged today that a soldier from Belfast has been killed on active service in troubled Afghanistan. He was shot and killed while on patrol in the Helmand Province yesterday. Belfast man Sean Binnie, a soldier from the Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, was patrolling with an Afghan National Army.

The NI soldier who died in an accident in Afghanistan's Helmand province has been named overnight as 20-year-old David Dalzell. Ranger Dalzell, was from Bangor and serving with 1st Battalion the Royal Irish Regiment when the accident happened on Friday in Nad-e Ali, the Ministry of Defence said.
