Men Stole Thousands From Employer
Two men who stole thousands of pounds between them from their employer have been given suspended jail sentences.
Sean Michael Murphy, 27, of Hillview, Drumhervan, Kinawley, and 24-year-old Declan Corr, of Church Lane, Lisnaskea, each pleaded guilty to stealing £1,400 from Ronan Rice.
They were each sentenced to six months' imprisonment, suspended for two years, and ordered to pay £1,700 in compensation.
Urban Village Opens Soon In East Belfast
An urban village due to open on the Newtownards Road this month will give living, work, shopping and worship space to thousands of people.
The £21m Skainos building has been commissioned by the East Belfast Mission and designed by architects Donnelly O’Neill.
It was financed by organisations including the EU Peace III programme, and facilities will include a hostel for homeless people, counselling, childcare and a community hall.
Rev Gary Mason from the Mission told View digital magazine: "In Methodism, we would have a very strong social conscience. So it's not just about going to church; it's also about engaging with the poor and marginalised.We’re guessing that when it's open at least 3,000 people per week will go through all the different ministries."
Paisley: 'No Memory' Of Hospital Stay
Former DUP leader Ian Paisley has no memory of the eight days he spent in hospital last February.
The 86-year-old told Sam McBride of the Newsletter: "It's eight days out of my life".
Dr Paisley's family stayed by his bedside during the anxious time of his illness, which was due to fluid in one lung and related complications.

A high profile Stormont Assembly member was fined £5,000 yesterday for refusing to reveal the name of a confidential source. However, while MLA Ian Paisley Jnr will have to find a considerably higher sum - taking into account costs - he won't be going to prison.
