Chinese National Charged With Murdering Husband
A woman from China has returned to the Crown Court in L’Derry, charged with murdering her husband.
Suwei Chang, 39, whose address has been given as The Women's Aid Centre at Adelaide Road in Belfast, faces charges over the murder of her husband Damien Keenan in their Francis Street home in the city on November 1, 2011.
She has been released on continuing bail and is due to appear before the court at a later date.
Fine Furnishings Up For Sale
Northern Ireland business Fine Furnishings has been offered up for sale by its administrator.
PwC was appointed in July to oversee the running of the company, which has shops in Lurgan and Belfast. Both have remained open.
Now PwC is considering selling each of the shops. The company said it could also lease the shops on a short or long-term basis.
It says it recognises the business serves a niche market with limited competition and has continued strong sales.
Man Claims Cannabis Was Bought For Friend
A man who claimed to have bought cannabis to help a disabled friend has been given and three-month suspended jail sentence.
Former actors’ agent Patrick James Thorold Duncan said he wanted to make sure he wasn’t being cheated by dealers, after police found scales and 15g of the drug in his car.
The 58-year-old man, from Glencairn Street in Belfast, was convicted of having cannabis with intent to supply.
He was detained in west Belfast on April 22 and claimed he was buying cannabis for a friend who suffers from multiple sclerosis.
Belfast Painting Sold For $1m
An oil painting by a famous Belfast artist has been sold for over $1m at auction in America.
Belfast-born Sir John Lavery’s Green Sofa is over 100 years old and is now the fourth most expensive of the artist’s work. It went for $1,314,500.

400 cannabis plants have been seized during a police operation in west Belfast at the weekend. The plants were seized on Sunday after officers raided the cannabis factory in the Broadway area as part of a planned search.

Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a suspected cannabis factory at a property in Craigavon on Tuesday 10th January. Shortly after 5.15pm, officers received and responded to a report of suspicious activity at a house in the Carrigart Crescent area.

Suspected cannabis factory uncovered in east Belfast
Police in east Belfast have uncovered a suspected cannabis factory following the search of a property in the area yesterday afternoon. During the raid at the house in the Albertbridge Road area of the city, police recovered 35 mature cannabis plants, and other paraphernalia.

Man Charged Over £16,000 Cannabis Find
A 22-year-old man has been charged after £16,000 worth of cannabis plants were seized in L'Derry. The discovery was made after police searched a house in the Waterside area on Friday, 22 September. The suspect has been accused of growing cannabis, possession of a Class B drug and intent to supply.
