Machete Robbery In Ballyclare
A man has robbed a takeaway in Ballyclare armed with a machete.
Police say the incident happened at 23:00 on Thursday.
The man entered the premises on Main Street and demanded money.
He then fled with a sum of cash.
A number of people are reported to have been in the takeaway at the time, but no-one was injured.
The robber is described as being 6ft tall, of slim build and wearing black clothes.
Detectives are appealing for who has information to contact police in Newtownabbey.
Cattle-Dealer Jailed For Animal Cruelty
A County Antrim cattle dealer has been jailed for two months and fined £5,000 for cruelty to an animal.
44-year-old Gregory Boyd of Main Street in Rasharkin pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary unsuffering to a bull at L’Derry Magistrates’ Court.
He already had two previous convictions under animal welfare legislation.
The animal was being transported to Foyle Meats for slaughter when staff reported to a vet it was lying on its side inside a trailer.
The prosecution solicitor told District Judge Barney McElholm the vet found numerous injuries and cold sores and a wound wide big enough to put a small fist into.
The animal was humanely destroyed by the vet and removed from the food chain.
Glenavy Memorial Paint Attack
A war memorial in Glenavy, County Antrim has been attacked with paint.
Police are treating the incident, which occurred on Main Street, as a hate crime.
The attack left the memorial and some poppy wreaths covered in navy paint.
It is thought the incident happened early on Friday morning.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
Three People Arrested Over Stabbing
Three people have been arrested following the stabbing of a man in Portrush.
A 32-year-old man was attacked on Causeway Street at about 00:30 on Friday.
The arrested are two men, aged 24 and 18, and a 19-year-old woman.
The victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police have advised motorists to avoid the area. They want any witnesses to contact them.
