Taoiseach Enda Kenny, together with Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, has announced that Nypro Healthcare is to further expand its medical device operations in Bray, Co. Wicklow with the opening of a new medical device development centre and the creation of 100 new high quality jobs.

Today's announcement is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Nypro Healthcare has created 160 new jobs in the last 24 months. Today's announcement, of 100 additional jobs will bring Nypro Healthcare’s total Irish workforce to 460. The increase in the company's headcount comes following a complete transition from 2008 in Nypro Healthcare's focus from the electronic industry to that of the drug delivery and diagnostics industry.

Nypro Healthcare's transformation, which has taken place over the last number of years, has redirected the company towards development and manufacture of complex high- growth inhalation and injectable drug delivery devices. This strategic move has been facilitated by the excellent and dedicated workforce of the Nypro Ireland Healthcare team resulting in the Irish operations being a key component of the Nypro Healthcare global offering. Included in the client list of Nypro Healthcare are 8 of the top 10 global pharmaceutical companies.

Making the announcement, Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD said: "Ireland's reputation as a leading location for business and investment in the life sciences sector is further boosted by this announcement of 100 new highly-skilled jobs at Nypro's Bray facility. Maintaining Ireland as an attractive location for investment is a priority for Government and is recognised by long established companies such as Nypro who have had a presence here since 1980. I'm delighted that today’s announcement deepens the long standing relationship between Nypro and Ireland."
