Omagh Bomb: Retrial Begins
A civil retrial of two men being sued for their part in the 1998 Omagh bombing has begun.
Colm Murphy, from Dundalk, and Seamus Daly, from County Monaghan, are currently defending legal action taken against them by relatives of some of the 29 people killed in the explosion.
The retrial follows their successful appeal against being held liable for the attack.
The Omagh bomb killed 29 people, including a woman pregnant with twins, when it went off in the County Tyrone town in August 1998. The Real IRA admitted carrying out the attack.
A lawyer for relatives of the victims has opened the case today, telling the court that Mr Murphy provided mobile phones to the bombers, while Mr Daly used one of the phones during the bomb run between Dundalk and Omagh.
Two other men found responsible for the attack failed to have the findings against them overturned.
Convicted Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt and dissident republican Liam Campbell have decided to take their case to the European Court of Human Rights in a bid to overturn the ruling.
No-one has ever been criminally convicted of carrying out the attack.
McKevitt, who is currently serving a 20-year jail sentence, Campbell, a farmer from County Louth currently caught up in gun smuggling allegations, Dundalk builder and publican Colm Murphy and Seamus Daly, from County Monaghan, were all held liable for the bombing in a civil ruling in 2009.
They were all ordered to pay £1.6m in compensation.
Mr Murphy and Mr Daly's challenges to the verdict were upheld.

Homes Evacuated In Co Tyrone And Co Down
Homes have been evacuated in two separate security alerts in County Tyrone and County Down today, 19 January. In the first security alert, a suspicious object was found at at a house on the Gortgonis Road in Coalisland. Man Arrested After Using Van To Attack Police Officers
The PSNI has condemned an incident in which a man used a van to repeatedly ram a police patrol car and attempted to run over an officer in Newry on Saturday, 03 February. Shortly after 11:20pm, officers on patrol approached a man standing beside a white Peugeot van in the Castlekeele Estate area.

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following an arson attack at a property in south Belfast. At approximately 10.20pm on Saturday, 13 April, police received a report of a fire at a house in the Kilburn Street area. Police attended the scene alongside the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.

The PSNI have welcomed the sentencing of two people at Laganside Crown Court for a range of offences including grievous bodily harm with intent, threats to kill, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon. 26-year-old Dylan Black, from the Lisburn area, was sentenced to seven years in prison. He will serve three years on license.
