Learning Pool To Create New Jobs

SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan has welcomed the launch of a new scheme by online learning services company Learning Pool (the Rising Star Programme) aimed at tackling youth unemployment in Derry and creating new jobs in the city.

Mr Durkan said: "I am delighted to hear the news that Learning Pool has launched a new scheme to create further jobs in Derry.

"Having worked with the company since it formed in 2006, I have been persistently impressed by the can-do attitude and enthusiasm they have shown – as well as their ability to steadily increase the number of employees locally (to more than 50).

"They are proof of what a Derry-based company can achieve despite the effects of the worldwide economic downturn. Indeed, at a time of recession, Paul and Mary (Learning Pool directors) have shown what a growing local business can achieve with determination and the right support.

"They have firmly established themselves as a leader in the UK market of public sector e-learning and I have every confidence that they will continue to build their business overseas and grow their employment base in the North West."
