Man Charged With McGovern Manslaughter

A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of teenager Jason McGovern.

Mr McGovern, 19, of Tydavnet, Co Monaghan, was attacked in Omagh, Co Tyrone, on New Year's Eve.

He was found dead at a friend's house.

Police said they could connect Mark Donnelly of Greencastle Road, Omagh, to the manslaughter.

Bail was set at £1,000 with a £10,000 surety and banned Donnelly from going into Omagh, unless he had to see his doctor, sign bail with police or attend court.

An 18-year-old man, also arrested on Tuesday, was released unconditionally.

Five people have previously been charged with affray in connection with the death.
